Dittany
Dittany is the common name of the plant Origanum Dictamnus. The essential oil of Dittany comes from steam distillation of the leaves of which bear on their surface a number of glandular hairs. The main constituents of the essential oil of Dittany are the three substances carvacrol, thymol and poulegkioni which give the plant its excellent antiseptic and antispasmodic properties.
Thus the essential oil of the Dittany is used in aromatherapy as relaxing, tonic, anti-inflammatory, muscle relaxant, antispasmodic, healing and astringent. Also as mentioned before known are the antiseptic properties that make it ideal against acne and oiliness, the intense action against cellulite and significant anti-aging effect. You can relieve wounds, burns and insect bites.
